This is a really tragic and telling story of how extremely severe disinformation killed off a very, very good community battery project (the size of 3 parking spaces) in Australia. Right next to one of Australia's biggest and most catastrophically harmful coal seam gas fields, as well.

In coal country this battery didn't stand a chance

A community battery project three years in the making, run by a local not-for-profit and backed by the council, was killed after a spark of misinformation about its fire risk was ignited.

@ketan Wondering why Tom Cooper has not yet been fired by FRNSW.
@ketan God I hate this ignorant fuckhole of a country sometimes.
@megatronicthronbanks I feel for you 😢 strength my friend!

The same "concerns," at opposite end of the earth - who could have thunk?

Do battery storage systems really pose a risk of a 'Chernobyl of Ireland'?

Experts told The Journal that concerns are understandable but fires are extremely rare.

@ketan guess all the anti 5G nut jobs in these small towns have now morphed into anti renewables nut jobs... Wonder how many use their Nazi daddy's satellite internet service to consume all the bat shit truths.

@ketan

In similar style to the misinfo that hydrogen is dangerous from the Hindenburg incident, the images of less safely produced lithium cells will haunt projects like this one.

And yet when it comes to massive area wildfires, the same uninformable talking heads will rail against measures to protect our neighbourhoods from those climate enhanced higher risk of fire threats!

So stupid!
