@welshpixie Ah yes, My other car is a ᚴᚾᛁᚱᛁ.
@alda what does that translate to :D
@welshpixie Knerrir, which is this kind if boat, the other kind being a longboat.
@alda Ah, this was meant to be a longboat but I guess I drew it too short and stout :D
@alda Although I see Knerrir also referred to as Knarr, which makes it 'my other car's a Knarr' which is funny XD
@welshpixie I'm very tempted to type out I'm a Little Teapot but about a short and stout knerrir, but I'm supposed to be working.

@welshpixie But most nursery rhymes are mostly like:

ᚠᚢᛚᛦ᛫ᛅᚴ᛫ᚢᛅᚱ᛫ᚠᚢᚱ᛫ᚢᛏ᛫ᛅᚢᚴ᛫ᚢᛅᚴ᛫ᛘᛅᚾ

Drunk I was. Went abroad and slayed a man.

@welshpixie Remember. Those guys were raised by Celtic and potentially Welsh nannies.
@welshpixie that seems like a short long boat (compared to my last Viking raid)
@th Aye, I have since learned about Knerrirs and that it is more of a Knerrir :D
@welshpixie the baby Draken is easier to sail, too.
@th Huh! Did you try to sail the sea?
The photo seems like you're pretty comfortable near the coast.
@welshpixie
@rayslava @welshpixie we crossed the north sea on that voyage, although earlier trips had taken the ship all the way to north america
@welshpixie VERY nice. And I see you and I share a favourite pen brand... I love my Uni ONE Studio Ghibli...

@welshpixie Could be a drakkar, as well.

My other car is a drakkar? 🤔

@welshpixie

Strap in boys, we're going to the monastery.

@mespique can I steal this to calligraph and illustrate 🤣
@welshpixie These are all VERY cool and I reckon would sell well up here; I just can't think, off the top of my head, of anywhere that would consider stocking prints. Maybe Peerie Shop in Lerwick.
@andy lot of vikings oop your way? :D

@welshpixie I live in Shetland now, remember? We just finished two months of setting fire to longboats in order to welcome the return of the sun. 😆

I mean, that's a bastardisation of a weird Victorian tradition, but the Norse heritage is strong up here. Shetland is more Scandi than it is Scottish.

Lerwick = Leirvik ("Muddy Bay") in old Norse. I live on the island this Pictish stone was discovered. 😂

@andy yesssss
@welshpixie Seriously though, we get tens of thousands of tourists arriving in cruise ships every year. A lot of Americans and the like. I reckon "My other car is a drakkar" bumper stickers would sell really well.
@andy well let me know if you find anywhere that would stock them and I'll send some up :D
@welshpixie I'll have a think. Tagging @JoBee in as she has lots more contact with the outside world than I do, and lots of artist friends.
@welshpixie @andy I think Peerie Shop https://peerieshop.co.uk/ or Shetland Book Shop https://www.shetlandbookshop.co.uk/ would both be good places to try!
Peerie Shop | Gift Shop in the heart of Lerwick, Shetland

Peerie Shop online is a taste of what we sell way up 60° north, nestled between the North Sea and the Atlantic; living with the wind, the puffins and the huge skies. We love Shetland, colour, wool, puffins and sheep.

Peerie Shop
@welshpixie @andy Also the Shetland Museum has a good shop and sells online. Whilst I think Viking stuff would sell well, I think maybe Sheatlan (which I have suddenly forgotten how to spell) is probably more appropriate than pure Norse. They might favour local artists but worth a try as certainly some of their things are not made in Shetland. https://shop.shetlandwoolweek.com/
