What are you so happy about, Finland?
@eivind honestly, we are flabbergasted. Every year this surprises us all. ๐Ÿ˜€
@eivind That nobody notices us. Except for this stupid happiness thing.
@eivind that we are still alive despite the government
@eivind According to memes on the interwebs because they have really clean buts. (perรคhuuhte?)
But my guess is, that's not the (only) driving factor.
@eivind Me personally? Hot boyfriend. Annoying as hell, but hot.
@eivind @piiabartos Apparently this kind of maximum happiness rolls over the meter back to zero, and mostly resembles deep depression.

@eivind @piiabartos โ€ฆ but to answer your question: Currently Iโ€™m happy about the unemployment benefit that landed on my bank account ten days earlier than expected.

As others mentioned, our lovely government has been hard at work destroying everything even distantly resembling welfare state. But my check still is earnings related, so itโ€™s kinda hefty comparing to basic benefit. Shambles of socialism still exist here!

Also back to work, not sure if I'm happy about that. (Except for money, ofc.)

@eivind We donโ€™t need much to be satisfied. When people were interviewed on the street about this, a man said he is happy because he got his morning shower. We are modest.
@eivind the 75% land area that's forest
@DionRa Is it real forest, even, or mostly spruce plantations like in Sweden and Norway?
@eivind @DionRa forest that has been reduced to plantations, mostly
@karhutar suspected that was the case. Still sorry to hear it, though. @DionRa
@eivind @karhutar ok I looked it up and it's only 43% natural forest.... still at least 3x better than anywhere else I've lived ๐Ÿ˜…
@DionRa that must be really good compares to the other peninsula buddies. @karhutar
@eivind I can have ok life only with linux phone.

@eivind In general, those on the "left" criticise the report (every year) like: "bah, humbug, we have such a shit right-wing government, the welfare state is going down the drain, why would anybody be happy here".

While those on the "right" criticise it with "bah, humbug, the country has gone to shit, too many wrong colour foreigners doing nothing and taking our jobs, and the labour unions have too much power, and taxation is killing business".

@eivind For instance, that we have lovely neighbours to the west, north, and south, Sweden, Norway, and Estonia! Three out of four is not bad.
@eivind it's mainly general contentment about the structures of everyday life working (mostly) as they should. Functioning public transport, food in stores, health care mostly still available despite the government's efforts to run it to the ground, people being reliable, keeping to their word, streets safe to walk in, public libraries going strong and offering a broad array of services, etc.
@eivind
My seventh cup of of coffee of the day. Before lunch.

Also thinking about getting blackout drunk at summer cottages sauna and passing out in there. Waking up to getting cold and being turbo hang over.
@eivind Peace, lakes and nature. Tax funded healthcare and education still pretty decent here. Evil megalomaniacs of the world hardly notice us. Sweden loosing in sports.
@eivind Maybe everybody else is just unhappier. And looking at the world around, I do not blame them.
@eivind elsewhere, they are running behind happiness. Here, we are running ahead of happiness ๐Ÿ˜‰
