A ★★★★★ review of Project Hail Mary (2026)

I loved the book so I was primed to enjoy this, but man what a time at the theater. It did such a good job of communicating the science stuff without getting too bogged down. The tone can be a bit much - the book also wore on me in that way - but it doesn’t bother me here because Gosling is pitch perfect. Yes some of the story is contrived but who gives a shit.  It’s crazy how a movie can be fun and also good, if only the rest of the blockbuster industrial complex could get that message.
