This guy has lost the plot. Time for him to go.
As long as waffling about "AGI" is considered automatically newsworthy when it's coming from someone like Sam Altman or Jensen Huang, why the heck wouldn't he keep doing it? Buzzwords don't have to make sense; they merely need to be popular and grist for news articles and opinion pieces and so forth.
Right. And the only way it STOPS being in the news cycle is if #journalism actually does its job, and critiques Huang's PR bullshit. When he starts burbling about AGI (and, quite clearly, waffling about it) why isn't the premise of the claim being challenged? Why is "AGI" even a good thing? But I suspect that Huang knows that his usual audience, whether it's tech executives or tech investors or tech reporters, is likely to take any high-tech abbreviation seriously merely because it's a high-tech abbreviation, being talked about by rich famous high-tech business leaders. Why, they wouldn't LIE to us now would they? (LIE is not an abbreviation.)
Oh I'm sure it's just a trigger word, for sure. Jansen knows it's nonsense.
Yes, it would be nice if the media would report on the nonsense as such in no uncertain terms. Just call these people liars and grifters already. I appreciate that might make future interviews tougher to arrange but sometimes life requires we make choices.
