The security and privacy-focused GrapheneOS stated in an X post that they will “remain usable by anyone around the world without requiring personal information, identification or an account.”

@privacynews @benedikt A “free” and “open source” software built by a Canadian “nonprofit corporation” said smth about selling 🤡
@lennybacon @privacynews i'm not a big fan of them (I prefer #mobilelinux), but I doubt any nonprofit corporation would simply give away smartphones for free. Non-profit doesn't mean you give away everything for free, but you don't earn money selling products.
@benedikt @privacynews As far as I get it you buy a phone, and flash their rom, which is free to use.

@lennybacon @benedikt @privacynews Many people don’t want to flash a ROM, but prefer to by a phone with GrapheneOS preinstalled.

Also, many closed-source apps will rely on age verification. Because if you are verified to be 14, you officially become fair game for the tracking industry. Without verification, apps might not work at all.

GrapheneOS should implement it compatible to Google‘s API and allow you to select the age group you belong to. And allow you to change it as often as you want.
