Well, the president of my local #AmateurRadio club contacted me and I'll be meeting with him on Thursday. He wants to show me physically what a radio looks like and have me experience it first hand. They even offered to help me take the test and find equipment when I pass. They have a ham fest and a field day too! This is really awesome. #HamRadio
@NicksWorld Mmm, ham!
@mcourcel If there was an egg radio, you'd like that too.
@NicksWorld The hands-on demo is where the hobby clicks -- enjoy Thursday.
@hamtrax This is gonna be fun! I'm sure of it. He's offered to have me, with him as the controlling operator, do HF stuff.

@NicksWorld

FANTASTIC!

@VE2UWY Yeah. He wants to have me transmit on HF with him as the operating controller so that I can have experience. Guy even offered to let me use his callsign when doing this too so that I can learn how to do this. If anything, it'll help me learn if I have mike fright or not though I have a feeling I won't because I've been doing public speaking since I was 11.

@NicksWorld
Have fun!!
@McRocker Were you testing my knowledge of the alphabet or something?
@NicksWorld Nope...just practicing mine! Got my radiotelephone operator's license in 1981... haven't used it in a while.
@McRocker Is a radio telephone operator's license like the Canadian ham radio license?

@NicksWorld Not too sure. I needed it to talk to aircraft & fire towers for forestry during wildfire season. Very military... no 10-codes EVER!!

I should add that I got it in 1981... lots of changes, I suspect, since then.

@NicksWorld

Hope it goes well, Nick.

@LikeItOrLumpIt I'm sure it will. Thanks Annie.
