I don't know what to do. If I transition my job would become unsafe and I'd have to leave it. I'd also lose most of my retirement because I don't vest for a few more years . I'd also lose student loan forgiveness. I turn 40 soon. My relationship would end but I wouldn't be out on the street. My mental health is already shit and I don't know if I could get a good paying job elsewhere. So how the hell would I pay for transition? How can I choose to impoverish myself?

@edg And I don't mean that to blow you off. Transition in your 30s and 40s brings with it its own set of challenges. You're often in a better financial spot to be able to actually do the things but you also have a lot to lose. It sucks. 😢

@edg I am in your boat, I would be unemployable if I did. But my current status quo lets me be involved with wonderful trans and other LGBTQ people and that is a reward in itself. Find these folks, because they will get you through the tough times.

@Emmeline this summer I will probably be joining a group therapy thing for trans people. It's purpose is exactly what you're talking about I think.
