I would like a #firefox extension that checks to see if the virtue-signaling, victim-blaming "we have cookies on this page! Do you agree?" at least has an option to choose which cookies. If it doesn't, and just has an "I agree" button, this extension would replace the button text with "fuck you."

#DumbIdeas #privacy #internet

@guyjantic I'm indignant when companies put words in my mouth when I decline to consent, with buttons that say stuff like, "No thanks! I don't like cute kittens and joy."

This kind of extension would let us speak for a company stealing our agency with pretextual "consent:"

"fuck you, user, click here to do what we say."

I want that extension too.

@davidsidi Oh, man. You've put your finger precisely on something I loathe. Those leading questions are infantilizing and demeaning. They're the equivalent of a parent saying to a screaming toddler, "Does someone need a nap?" when the toddler actually wants to commit multiple homicide.

Not that I want to commit homicide. But when I see those fucking annoying buttons (and similar ones), I very much want to smash the computer that generates them.
