The systemd crowd have decided the best defense is an offense and are now calling the civil libertarians and anti-fascists concerned about age verification laws "fascists". This is seriously fucked up, and maybe it's time #systemd had new management.

@poundquerydotinfo the amount of "comply in advance!" people in tech is just depressing, yet another thing that makes me want to leave.

@neurobashing The non-insult part of the argument is that date-of-birth is a GECOS field and they were implementing it as a part of systemd gobbling up passwd as part of its core functionality.

So they weren't "complying", it was just poor timing as they tried to implement something stupid that has no reason to be in systemd in systemd.

I think we need a new init system now. I don't want to go back to sysvinit, but #systemd has become a parody of itself, and the people running it are, objectively, dicks who are out of touch with reality.

@poundquerydotinfo yeah I think the original systemd mandate of “modern init system” has been left in the rear-view. It seems like it wants to be the NT Executive now. But what’s his name did work at MS so I guess it tracks
