Out of curiosity- what instances are y’all on - and why? What are the pros and cons of the various instances you have chosen?

@Paulatics you should nag the Senate IT to start up an official instance for official accounts of Senators.

@johnefrancis The Senate IT department is scathingly negative about Mastodon. They do not think I should be using it myself.

@Paulatics Did they give a reason for disapproval? A security issue and is this specifically for Mastodon or all social media apps?

@WaitingForTheSign @Paulatics I think hearing their concerns and allowing space for conversation could be productive.

@jeremyjanzen @WaitingForTheSign @Paulatics Video is pretty new to the Senate, too. Whole website refresh was done last year too.

I think it's a case of having a lot on their plate and hosting/running/budgeting for a server is just one more thing on their docket.
