This says a lot about the average carnist mindset. A lot of people have no idea their meat comes from dead animals. I think there would be a lot more vegans if people knew and were fully aware of the consequences
But did you know that to eat vegetables, you actually kill them? An innocent life form - dead, just so you can eat. How can you live with yourself?
Vegetables don’t care if they die, but animals do. Animals don’t like dying. I’ve asked lots of animals and very few of them were suicidal.
So it’s funny You bring that up because i had a fish that was very definitely suicidal. we did not eat him though.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day, give a man a suicidal fish give him PTSD for a lifetime.
We gave it a clean 200 gal tank, friends, food that it was really picky about (he only wanted to eat the tails of the feeder goldfish. We told him he had to eat the entire things. He refused. So we ended up having these three feeder fish with half missing tails called Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner swimming around in the tank with our fancy fish because dumb old Oliver bit they butts off but wouldn’t finish the job. Eventually Oliver died by flight, the tails finished growing back, we dug a pond, and Breakfast Lunch abs Dinner moved outside to become our koi. 25 cent feeders. They got huge. Gorgeous. A friend who waited tables at a Japanese restaurant offered to buy them for the restaurant because he thought they were koi and not 25 cent feeder goldfish. We liked him so we said no, go spend your own 50 cents. He thought it was hilarious. Next week we went to get sushi and their koi fountain was full of feeder goldfish.

Suicideel is my spirit animal.

“Fuck you, I’m taking you with me!”

I’ve asked lots of plants and none of them were suicidal. it didn’t matter how damaged they were, they just kept fighting to live.

don’t you think that’s justification enough to show that plant lives matter?

No.

well then it’s not justifiable to assume animals have a stronger desire to live since when you shoot them, they just die.

if animals didn’t want to be eaten, they should have evolved to not be so tasty.

Plenty of animals can survive being shot, depending on where you shoot them

well, you can cut the whole head of lettuce off and it will grow back.

try doing that to a cow…not so much…

Well there you fucking go, don’t you? You don’t need to kill lettuce to eat it, but you do need to kill cows to eat them. So stop the killing and have a salad.

I think you’re forgetting about industrial farms (that supply food for the majority of people). they don’t just regrow the plants. they harvest and butcher them to make room for new sprouts.

did you ever stop and ask a lettuce if it wanted to be eaten? Lettuce is disgusting, it evolved to be gross. Can’t say that for steak makers.

But industrial farms that supply meat for the majority of people make meat out of plants. Corn, mostly. So lots of corn has to die for one steak to be made.
then we should all just starve, because all life is sacred.
Mine are. They always die on me. :(

"Vegetables don't care if they die, but animals do. Animals don't like dying."

there simply isn't proof for claims like this

I’ve got two questions for you:

Do you identify as a member of the kingdom animalia?

Do you wanna die?

say what you want to say. I don't care for your interrogation.
Well there you go, animals like yourself don’t like dying.

we have something we haven't been able to prove exists in any other animal: knowledge that we, ourselves, might die. animal cognitive behaviorists call this understanding personal mortality, and every time they get close to it, I've seen them go out of their way to say they don't have proof any other animal understands personal mortality.

if you have an animal cognitive behavioral study that claims otherwise, I'd be happy to read it.

An animal doesn’t need to understand dying in order to dislike it. You can just repeatedly stab a dog until it dies, and it will voice its displeasure. I’ve never done that, but I understand the science is quite firm on the matter.
this isn't proof of understanding personal mortality
Fortunately, I already moved the goalposts beyond the need for understanding. I said they don’t like dying, I didn’t say squat about understanding dying.
if you want to just live in your feelings about this instead of relying on the science, I can't stop you. but anyone else who reads this should understand that what you claimed simply isn't scientific fact.

So anyway, here’s the science on pain at slaughter

https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/animal-welfare/article/pain-perception-at-slaughter/463284EC5DCD5A60CE674AC004B7E227

The results demonstrate clearly, for the first time, that the act of slaughter by ventral-neck incision is associated with noxious stimulation that would be expected to be painful in the period between the incision and subsequent loss of consciousness.
