Mel swept their chain across the floor, wrapping the end around a guard's leg and yanking it out from under him, pouncing on his prone body and snarling.

"Stay down, if you know what's good for you."

The guard nodded fervently as Mel rolled off, shouting "Lovely, did you get in the vault?"

Epoxy shook her head while sticking a particularly grumpy-looking cop to the wall by the vault.

"They upgraded the door, the auto-tumblers don't work any more. Care to trade places, my glob of joy? I'll take care of the rest there while you get this door open."

Mel grinned. "My turrrrrn!"

Giving Epoxy a quick kiss on the mask as they passed each other, Mel strode up to the door and spread their fingers across it. They pushed their power into the mechanism, feeling out the layout by the reverberations.

"There!"

Applying a little focus, they disintegrated the lock's core. The vault opened, smoke billowing from the blown-out mechanism, setting off the sprinklers.

Damp-furred, Mel called out, "Done!"

Epoxy smiled at a glued-down cop, flicking the tip of his nose. "Beautiful. Grab th-"

The doors slammed open, and both turned to see a cape standing proud.

"Stop, villains!" he bellowed. "You face Paragon, defender of justice!"

Mel looked into Epoxy's eyes, seeing her girlfriend's smile under her dripping mask.

"Shall we dance?"

"Oh blaster, I thought you'd never ask. It's not a date night without a tango!"

As one, they leapt into battle.
