Trump’s DOJ is letting the fuckheads involved in Breonna Taylor’s murder off the hook.

For those who have memory holed it —

EMT Taylor was off duty at home when police, using a fraudulently obtained warrant, opened fire through the door and window of the home, killing the EMT. She was unarmed, and they have never presented evidence that she posed a threat or was involved in criminal activity.

@mcnado Maybe I’m mis- remembering but when the cops came in, as you said without a warrant or even knocking, her BF exercised his 2A rights and shot at them, which was used as justification by the cops for killing her. Letting those lying cops off the hook adds insult to injury

  • Cops have a duty to make themselves identifyable when stopped and I also don't weep for the idiot cop who refused to ID as such when he got shot through the door he tried to lockpick (illegally)…

@kkarhan @mcnado I agree. Someone who tries to get into my house is not going home IDAF who they are. LE will change their minds about ‘no knock’ home invasions when enough people exercise their 2A rights.

  • And yes, I agree with the writer that this is a correct decision, even tho I despise the shooter by virtue of being part of an organized crime group aka. OMC.
    • Mind you he did legally own said gun, the invaders refused to ID as police upon being called for.

So yeah, cops got castle'd and the rule of law and justice does also apply to that person.

#NotLegalAdvice but I'd certainly expect people amidst the #Gestapo-like #murder of unarmed people by #ICE not assume that any of them come in peace or ain't trying to find reasons to kill people if not get away with it.

@kkarhan @mcnado That is interesting. In my state, you can’t shoot through a door. Someone has to enter your home for use of deadly force in self defense. So ‘no knock’ busting into my house gives me the defense

@lawyersgunsnmoney @mcnado Again: #NotLegalAdvice and given the circumstances the judges in said case affirmed that even tho the person inside did falsely assume a violent home invasion, the Police also refused to identify when being called out and the false assumption thus was logical at the time.

  • It would be unjust to blame the person defending given the circumstances.
    • In fact, the police should've changed course of action and at that point disclosed their search warrant, which would've yielded different results given the person inside did legally own said gun and would've likely just stood down and accepted the search instead ob being awoken by the attempted break-in by the police.

And that is basically the summary of said verdict: The person did remain free and uncharged.

  • OFC the biggest police union didn't reflect upon that decision.
    • That being said access to justice and rule of law does apply even to some OMC members, because one doesn't get excluded from the law as a matter of principle!

Amidst the prevalence of firearms and violence I'm shocked this apparently would not fall under "Castle Doctine"…

@kkarhan @mcnado Each US state is different and the laws vary widely. My state, although it is not as restrictive as many, is not a Castle Doctrine jurisdiction. Unlike a few states which impose duty to retreat, mine doesn’t. The media portrays the US like it’s Dodge City in the 1800s but it is not that way. If you shoot someone in self defense, generally you have to be able to prove you were in imminent danger of bodily harm.
