What the HELL is going on?

A Paris based friend asked me why friends of hers from Milano could not get trains on 6th June Milano-Paris

On Sat 6th: no trains
On 4th and 5th: only trains in the afternoons

And both Torino-Bardonecchia AND Modane-Chambéry have regional trains running normally

@jon Is there any track between Modane and Bardonecchia that could possibly undergo maintenance work ?

@Sobex Yes. But I can find no evidence any such work is planned. If you can find some, please tell me!

@Sobex Turns out the problems are in Lyon, and that's causing all manner of cancellations - also of some trains that do not need to serve Lyon 🤷‍♂️

@Sobex No, some rebuilding of Perrache. So everything has to terminate at, and hence clog up, Part Dieu.

@jon Tried to book a Chambéry-Milano trip on Saturday 11th April, same issue: no trains, but no idea why, and unable to find any page explaining why!

@jon Torino - Bardonecchia was closed this weekend after Bussoleno (went there skiing today). Still, a long way from today to June..

@jon This maintenance was unplanned though, probably something that broke or a minor landslide. Temperatures are rising and the soil starts to move. Unclear why they closed such a long stretch of track.
