Now with the ability to drag & drop images πŸ₯³ Here's a quick test with one I found on Unsplash.

So far it's just HTML, CSS, JS, and SVG. Once I have the SVG elements syncing across sheets (and different layouts, including the option to manually place) I'll add IndexedDB for some data persistence.

#HTML #CSS #JS

I realised I never posted the image / advent calendar we made last year that inspired this project, so, for context:

We made this last year for our board game project @BoardGameBeans

Where we had a different game to play each day.

I thought it could be cool to make a web tool so anyone can create one.

The goal is to provide three files, base layer, top layer, and then a cut layer SVG should folks have a Cricut or similar, and want to machine cut the windows like we did ☺️

@hejchristian this is SO cool, been loving watching the dev of this heheh

@jake4480 ahah thanks Jake ☺️ It's incredibly niche, niche of the nicheeee - but it's been a great way to learn some new stuff and practice. And at the end we'll have a tool we ourselves would use.

This one isn't just for board games of course, so anyone can use it - but I do plan to expand it to use the BoardGameGeek API so folks can fetch games from their collections - but that's like, V2 of this lol. I've never done that before, so that'll be a fun thing to learn

@hejchristian wild. I'm actually a bit of board game nut, I have some weird older ones haha- and I have some strange indie games etc too.. this is such a great idea and amazing for the makerspace.
@jake4480 Yay board games! Got any favourites? 🎲

@hejchristian ha! To start, I have this wild vintage Woody Woodpecker one wifey got me- I'll hafta get pics. It's pretty cool.

I have this other wild one that is such a cool concept but kinda weird - have you heard of Shadows in the Forest (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1070/shadows-in-the-forest)? Tried it with the in-laws and didn't have the best luck πŸ˜‚ but it's a rad look and idea.

I also have this mini one called Boogerpacolypse my friend made - my son and I played. It's a blast, hand sculpted pieces, tokens, AND game board, just an amazing piece- the first pic below.

And then I have stuff like this mini Eek! the Cat one from a fast food prize in the 90s.

And I tracked down a vintage copy of the Tiddlywinks I had as a kid in the 80s (this copy is from 1970!) Gotta play that one with wifey.

Oh yeah and I recently found the complete Buffy game for PENNIES basically at thrift. Like less than $10. 🀯

@jake4480 Nice! Shadow in the Forest look really neat! Not gonna lie not heard of any of these, well, Tiddlywinks maybe - but didn't realise it was a boxed game, and always thought it was just a game that could be played with tokens πŸ˜… really cool Jake, thanks for sharing

@hejchristian πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ heck yeah! Board games - any kind of games are so cool. And it's so wild people have been playing board games like, forever haha

There is this really cool project to bring new life to some of the ancient games,
