The saltiness of this headline, the uncritical rebroadcast of Sneider, and the fact that the author is named "Fisher Jack," and doesn't include a profile pic, but does say that they have a "passion for amplifying Black voices," tells me exactly what we're dealing with here.

Michael B. Jordan Wants $18 Million for 'Miami Vice' Reboot—Because Oscars Cost Extra | VIDEO | EURweb | Black News, Culture, Entertainment & More

The 'Miami Vice' reboot is in jeopardy after Jordan’s reported $18 million salary demand. Get that bag or kill the project?

Some people genuinely get angry at seeing a Black person get paid what they're worth.🤷🏿‍♂️

Some people genuinely enjoyed college football more, when they knew that the Black kids were smashing their heads into each other for free.

Let's see if I'm right:

At some point in the next few days, Black entertainment reporters, including several woman, will cover this same story. Let's see if there's a difference in how they frame the story versus how these two dudes talked about it.

If I'm right, then you have your answer to the question of why megastars like Denzel Washington and Beyoncé so often require that Black media journalists be included in their press events.

👴🏻"Hey no fair! How come that little blogger got into the event! I write for Mega Corp! Reverse racism!🤡"

The whole conversation is silly anyway.

Jared Leto reportedly got $15 million for Tron Ares.🤡

$15M!

Jared.

Leto.

Y'all giving Morbius $15M, so why was the conversation for MBJ at $5M anyway?

Sinners made almost half a billion dollars, and he was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar before he won.

Will Smith's Bad Boys franchise made ~$1.3B.

Michael B Jordan is a real action star.

They're going to pay MBJ $18M, put him in sunglasses, a tank top, a shirt with the buttons opened, and a sports car, do some car chases and shootouts around Miami, and make 2 billion dollars🤷🏿‍♂️

$18M is ~$1% of that

@mekkaokereke

Counterpoint, all of hollywood is overpaid, all these films are wasteful and the costs involved are ridiculous.

@limneticvillains @mekkaokereke how is that a counterpoint when the whole point is that media seem to complain only when the personality is Black?
@oblomov @mekkaokereke You don't think that's a valid response? Ok.
@limneticvillains @mekkaokereke the comment per se is valid, it's just not a counterpoint
@oblomov @mekkaokereke Well to be ultra clear, fuck racism, fuck racists and fuck Hollywood.
@limneticvillains Okay. And that's an argument in favor of the article's premise that Michael B Jordan should just accept less money for the same role in what way?
@Thad yes

@limneticvillains Your answer to the question "in what way" is "yes"?

I guess you don't have to be cogent or coherent when you're shilling for the ownership class.

@limneticvillains @mekkaokereke everyone involved in making a Hollywood movie has a union, so making a movie means hundreds of people (maybe more, just look at the credits of any recent film) get paid a living wage for several months of work. I genuinely think that the movie industry is not that bad as far as capitalist enterprises go.
@mekkaokereke Pay the man you cowards!
@mekkaokereke I suppose Will Smith is the rare example of an actor who became less bankable when he won an Oscar, but that's a different story...

@Thad

To white people. No one else cared that much that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock like that.🤷🏿‍♂️

"Bad Boys, Ride or Die", made $404 million. He's still a huge star.

Chris Rock was a creepy sex pest to Jada for decades, but Hollywood doesn't even know how to recognize that, let alone address it. Most of Will Smith's fans said, "Okay, Maybe the slap was a bit much, and ultimately ineffective... But we understand! Chris Rock is scaring the girls."

Jim Carrey grabbed a 19 year old girl's head at the MTV music awards, held her so that she couldn't move, and forcefully kissed her in front of the whole world. This is sexual assault and public humiliation. No one asked him to be banned from the Oscars.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq6nSBJhSxg

Adrien Brody also grabbed the back of a woman's head so that she could not move, and force kissed her in front of the world. No ban.

Roman Polanski raped kids just like Epstein did, and then he fled the country. He's still winning Oscars. He won his last one in 2003. Hollywood never gave up on him. Adrian Brody supported him and starred in his movies. They only banned Polanski when they banned Bill Cosby, because otherwise the hypocrisy would be too blatant.

And almost all of these Will Smith pearl clutching dudes made movies with Weinstein, and yes, they all knew.

There's a clear difference between what most movie goers around the world consider "violent assault" at an awards show, and what Hollywood does.

Jim Carrey exposed force kiss on Alicia Silverstone who was 19 and Jim Curry 30 at MTV Awards

@mekkaokereke Yeah, Ratner's out there trying to stage a comeback right now too. A whole lot of white guys getting much less coverage for much worse things.
@mekkaokereke I would watch MBJ paint a house, filmed on an iPhone 5 by some neighborhood kids, would still be better than whatever human fingerless glove Jared Leto has going on.
@courtney @mekkaokereke I can't find any fault with this statement (_Tangerine_ (2015) was also filmed on an iPhone 5, so MBJ painting a fence can be at least as good)
@mdm @mekkaokereke thank you for picking up on why I specified which gen iPhone! TANGERINE set the bar for digital imo.
@courtney @mekkaokereke Always fun to find another movie lover in the wild!

@mekkaokereke At the end of the day, he is a household name nowadays, even the randos I know who only rewatch the same John Wayne westerns on repeat are aware of him.

Even before becoming a tentpole actor, he's been around for a minute (and he was a character in Burn Notice, which is always a good indicator of a career that will go forward). I don't think I'd ever say "a person deserves 18 million dollars", that's a mind boggling amount of money for many (and yes, I realize dwarfed by other people who make more doing significantly less), but in the context of a movie the studio is gonna dump an obscene amount of money into and probably merchandise the hell out of, I think that would be a drop in the bucket for studios investors who have clearly been cribbing notes from "The Producers".

That all said, I've been a fan for years and I'm hapoy he's trying to stake his worth. I just wish he stopped dying in super hero movies.

@mekkaokereke that's ridiculous. i liked both films but MBJ CLEARLY did a better job in Sinners than Jared Leto did in Ares. i wonder what the difference is (/s) 🙄
@mekkaokereke Leto got $15M for Tron? That’s north of $10M per visible emotion. 🤦‍♂️
