Amen! I live mostly on SS and absolutely understand from experience the impact of every extra dime we pay — but I too hate to see constant references to “the economy” instead of our political & moral failures being cited as the cause of stress, anxiety & angst in our life. How many tankfuls of gas or how many bags of groceries equates to one deported family, one grieving military family, one innocent life lost in the Middle East, or claimed by ICE?
I'm sure they'll have a ticker for the number of killed and wounded as soon as Kalshi offers bets on the body count
I totally agree.
I'm getting really sick, like physically sick, of the amount of things I am seeing that all boil down to the price of fuel.
Especially in a culture that is as obsessed with cars as Australia is.
"Oh my god! There's a war! Now it's going to cost me an extra five bucks to fill my massive for no reason, emotional support vehicle/penis extension and drive around for hours projecting my status to others!"
"People are actually dying."
"Yeah, well, they're not me so who cares. But the fuel prices! Oh! The humanity! Something must be done! Wait, can we kill two birds with one stone and just start using people as fuel? If this carries on I might have to consider walking the five hundred yards to the store!"
@theleftistlawyer That's what middle class TV viewers care about, NOT someone else's kids getting butchered. How many middle class TV addicts have a family member either in the military OR living in Iran or Palestine?
They all buy gas...
Or even a ticker of the cost of all the exploded munitions to date.
