As the DWP continues its antagonistic attitude towards carers, its pretty clear that there is a complete contempt for all that carers do for those they care for. Rather, they are (like other benefits recipients) treated as unworthy spongers who are trying to cheat the system.

Lets be clear: unpaid carers are doing work that is both compassionate & necessary in a system of social care that is dysfunctional.

The logic that decries this comes from the top!

Unpaid carers say they remain ‘in limbo’ as DWP continues to pursue discredited repayment bills

@ChrisMayLA6 DWP are playing on the fact that carers are unlikely to abandon their caree. I remember reading about parents with young children occupying a housing office when desperate for permanent housing. Maybe it's time for carers to do something similar?

@ChrisMayLA6 without a carer, who is also my partner as is so often the case, I couldn't navigate the hellscape that is the benefits system in the timeframe they lay out or, in some cases, at all.

I rather suspect an attack on carers is related to this knowledge.

Being ill, or worse disabled, is the worst thing you can do as a British citizen. How very dare you? It's like being in an abusive relationship.

@vulgalour

Agreed, apart from the actual care, my next biggest 'job' is advocating for & sorting out the bureaucracy for my wife's relationship with the health service...

@vulgalour @ChrisMayLA6
💯 it's exactly the same as all the narcissistic relationships i suffered. 🤢
