I’m looking to hire an artist for a small project.

My mom’s 87 and in a nursing facility. She loves adult coloring books and has covered the walls of her room with her work. She especially likes animal designs and gives them names and stories. I keep her supplied with books, but she wants DONKEYS. And I haven’t found her a book with a good donkey design. I’d like to commission a coloring-book style line drawing similar to this photo of our boys. Interested? Hit me up in DMs. #asstodon

3: Have you looked for Shrek coloring books? I’d expect a fair bit o’ donkey therein.

Very quick-n-dirty (20 min) PNG export, no cleanup/perfecting done. This app makes SVG (vector graphic) files natively, which don’t get “jaggy” when printed large.

Never do coloring book stuff myself (not since the early ‘70s), so I dunno how much detail is desired in the line work. Lemme know if this is at all in the ballpark. No offense will be taken if the answer is, “No, not like that.” LOL

But if this is approaching useful, I can put real time into tidying.

@impermanen_ until someone can really provide what you are looking for here is this, I used #gmic in #gimp to convert the image to #lineart, maybe when you print it out, it can offer a little coloring enjoyment until you can find more;

@impermanen_ Additional thought: If you don't find somebody in the traditional art fields, take a few pics of the pages your mom has done and likes the line/style of and try a (small, local, less-busy) tattoo parlor. A lot of them draw their own designs and might be willing to do some pages for you if they're not busy. :)

Or maybe I can! I’m going to try to crowdfund a donkey coloring book with work by artists from all over the fediverse. I just want the book, so the proceeds after costs would go to the artists (or a charity of their choice). Let me know if you’re interested.

@impermanen_ Maybe you've already heard about it but I just heard about a donkey rescue place in Mesquite, Nevada (https://donkeyrescue.org/). I didn't see any coloring books in their gift shop but they did have a lot of cool donkey gifts. Good luck!
