I am nearly 95% funded for my new book, Flong Time, No See, a collection of what (I think) are charming and quirky essays that weave together the history of obscure printing practices and working people’s lives. The campaign ends Tuesday! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/glennf/flong-time-no-see?ref=aj65aw

The Incomparable
@glennf Backed. My da ran a small printing business for 30 years, and this will be a gift for him. The word "flong" fascinated him, we had a phrase in the house "I am in flongs" meaning absolutely knackered tired. Of course I got put to work, for free first and then for money, and did a ton of proofing, operating old Heidelberg letterpress machines and the giant guillotine, even typesetting small jobs for customers :)
@oisin amazing! It is such a great word but I have known few people under 80 who ever heard or used it!!
@glennf One of my all-time favourites 😀
@glennf The da is 84
@oisin fantastic. Tell me any details and I’ll work them in the book as a treat! I’m at [email protected]—i will have lots of footnotes and could put your family story in one with permission!
