And following the rules of agricultural economy, produce will be scarce and will cost so much more at the stores, but hey they "owned the libs" right?
it's all imported anyways, because.. globalization. All we really grow here in meaningful amounts are the large commodities- soybeans, corn, (some) rice, wheat. That's all the midwest has got the climate to grow anyways. California is a different story. That's where the high value crops ar grown- fruits, nuts, marijuana, herbs, spices. CA got it's shit together way ahead of the other states because we're so much bigger. Failure is not an option, unlike Kansas, etal.
I didn't like being owned!
lotta bullshit right now in D.C. Maybe they can help make up for some of the deficit?
Best mushroom farmers in the world come from D.C.- or end up there..
Mushroom Mecca!

@Alison @VeroniqueB99 Ban oil and gas exports.
Pause ethanol requirements in gasoline.
Pause requirement for diesel exhaust fluid - that is basically fertilizer.
Stop burning food and there might be some to eat.

Corn shortage only means bellies in Mexico go empty. In the USA it's used for junk food, sugar production, and animal feed. Eat less beef (more chicken, pork) and less junk food/sugar sounds like a winning proposition to me. Ethanol pause in gasoline will never happen- Ethanol is the substitue anti-knock agent for MTBE, which was the replacement for TEL. Ethanol in the gas ain't going nowhere, except in E85 states.
@Felis_Catus_Domesticus @Alison @VeroniqueB99 Fertilizer shortage means only the most profitable crops get planted, even if some people go hungry.
If there is a shortage of fertilizer then stop other uses for the raw materials, and stop growing corn to make fuel.
It's easier to import beef than animal feed so beef will probably be an expensive import under those conditions.
3rd world imports from Latin America will cover a lot of this.. that is the current system anyways, so they'll just crank up production down there as much as they can (whatever that means..) It'll probably plant the seeds of some environmental disaster later on down the road because LA countries are morally irresponsible and greedy to grab for cash first and foremost over all other things- (See: narcotrafficking)
