Europe is sealing itself off from refugees. And so is Poland.
The wall that the Polish government has erected along the border with Belarus in recent years is almost 200 kilometres long and more than five metres high, bristling with barbed wire and guarded by thousands of soldiers and border officials.
It is intended to prevent refugees from entering Europe. Those who manage to get through are turned back, chased through the forest and beaten.
They can no longer apply for asylum since the so-called Civic Coalition under Prime Minister Donald Tusk suspended the right to asylum in March 2025.
This is a clear violation of European law, yet it has not been criticised by the EU.
