OpenAI plans to grow from 4,500 to 8,000 employees this year in an effort to staff up to better compete for business customers against Anthropic. This is after issuing a “code red” in December tto address Google Gemini catching up in the consumer space against ChatGPT.

Ironic that while every other tech company claims to be shrinking because of AI, OpenAI is nearly doubling.

OpenAI plans to ⁠deploy most ‌of the new hires ​across ​product development, engineering, research and ⁠sales, the FT said. The ChatGPT-maker is ​also ramping up recruitment of specialists ​focused on "technical ambassadorship," aimed at helping businesses make better use of its tools, the report added.
