This is very bad. No transport. Cop went blazing lights and sirens here a ways back. (apparently an oversight on the log, transported by RA) #rattlesnakes
@ai6yr is EMS63 the medical supervisor ? (it is here, EMS24/EMS22 are like the BC's for the EMS division [but they are usually Captains not Chiefs])
@MsMerope Yes... Battallion 33, Truck 35, EMS supervisor 63, Medic Engine 32, EMS 443, RA 30 is the County ALS (there is overlap, new), with blood and and additional resources in bad EMS conditions... U32 is Utility 32, why they are there, dunno, and the VC Air Unit for air evac/etc.
@ai6yr utility could be lighting, or drones 🤔
@MsMerope Ah yes. I'll get the full story, my son is on duty, but not on that (they were covering for that unit, came over to pet the dog).
@MsMerope Anyway, if this is another fatality that will be two this week... and I don't think we've ever had a rattlesnake fatality around here. Dunno what the heck is going on... but this heatwave is extremely unusual and the world has gone to pot, so... Apparently another danger here. Already very careful here hiking the dog (no rattlesnakes on my hill here in the past... but... seems like risks have gone up significantly, will have to go clear out the trails a bit for more visibility.

@ai6yr @MsMerope Just bits we overheard, PT transported ALS, but LRH says they have antivenom on hand.

The oddest thing is that both of these recent bites involve a cyclist essentially falling onto the snake. Incredibly rare and unlikely event. Neither of them were messing with the poor snake.

@ai6yr @MsMerope I heard a rumour (perhaps here?) that there’s this delayed cycle of wet year > more acorns a year later > more squirrels and rats a year after that, and I wonder if rattlesnakes a year after *that* is the final piece in the puzzle? If so we can blame winter 22/23 for this!!

@pmonks @ai6yr

yeah, I think I heard something like that too.

🎶 it's the circle of liiiiiiiiife🎶

@ai6yr Transported by VCFD RA. Snake bite.
@W6KME Yeah, heard the rattlesnake bite. Glad transport happened. the other one this week was a fatal. (wildwood)
