I don't know where I saw this yesterday, but #YouKnowWhatGripesMyAss?

Why do North Americans call a beef burger a "burger" but, even if it's the exact same ingredients and you just swap the beef patty for a breaded or grilled chicken breast, suddenly it's a "sandwich"?! (Same with fish)

WHY?! IT'S ON A BURGER BUN... IT'S A CHICKEN BURGER! ๐Ÿ˜

It's a sandwich in the same way that a cheeseburger is a sandwich too, then: it's food between two pieces of bread.

Judge Yuri has ruled! ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€โš–๏ธ

Also, "Judge Yuri and Executioner"

#IsThisAThing? ๐Ÿค”

@Yuriel

Yes, though it might be restricted to niche Ren'Py visual novels.

>.>

@Yuriel That's a really good point!
@retrosponge I don't get it... I just assume it's filed under "'MURICA! FUCK YEAH!" ๐Ÿ™„
@Yuriel It's the same here too but America has way too much influence over Canada, so...
@Yuriel If it's some form of patty between burger buns, it's a damn burger!

@Gulleko @Yuriel Now if it's a solid chicken breast or something, then that is a chicken sandwich.

But if it's breaded and shaped and everything, then in a bun, it's a chicken burger.

@Gulleko  ๐Ÿ’ฏ

@Gulleko Actually, it just hit me that I don't know if you agreeing with me o not. ๐Ÿคฃ

To be clear, my point is burger buns make the burger, not the type, shape, or processing method of the contents.

(as in, a beef burger patty on a baguette or sliced bread is NOT a burger; a chicken breast or fish fillet IS a burger. ๐Ÿ˜Ž)

@Yuriel I agree with you, but reserve the right to name some exceptions if I think of any.

For example, a living creature between two burger buns is not a burger, they are dressed up as a burger, even if they are technically edible.

@Gulleko That's not food! ๐Ÿ˜…

A tungsten rod or a wad of lava isn't a burger either, even if they're between two buns. ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

Y'all know it's ok to just agree with me once in a while, right?  An asteroid is not going to fall on your house if you don't fight me on every opinion. ๐Ÿคญ

@Yuriel IMO a burger has to have ground meat/meat substitute, so a fish or chicken patty doesn't count as it's not ground up

@ldottxt @Yuriel YES!

Like the bacon ranch chicken burger I like from Wendy's it's basically a round breaded bit of chicken.

And since I've never seen a round slice of chicken on a chicken, I'm gonna assume it's processed.๐Ÿ˜‚

@retrosponge @Yuriel yep, the processed breaded crap counts as a chicken burger, but if it's a chunk of actual chicken (breaded or no) it's a sandwich

@ldottxt @Yuriel Yeah, as I said, if it's a whole-ass chicken breast, then no, it's not a burger.

It's a chicken sandwich.

A filet of fish is a fish sandwich.

@ldottxt See, to me, it's about the bun type.

A sandwich doesn't change name because of how the ingredients are processed.

If you put a burger patty on a bolillo, is THAT a hamburger? ๐Ÿคจ No, that's a weird-ass torta made by someone at 3 am who ran out of burger buns.

(Now, this is the part where you go "FUCK!" because you know this bitch is making a good point. It's happened so many times before, but you never learn, bestie. )

@Yuriel it's also tied to bun type, but for example a burger patty on a potato bun or ciabatta bun is still a burger
@ldottxt yeah, but those are still buns. ๐Ÿ˜‰
@Yuriel @ldottxt Now a burger between two slices of bread. I would call that a burger sandwich.

@retrosponge @ldottxt A burger patty between two pieces of like Wonder bread?

Yeah... That's s weird. sandwich. Thank you for making my point.

@Yuriel @ldottxt I never disagreed with your point๐Ÿ˜

I have put a burger between two pieces of bread before because I like the difference in the bread to beef ratio.๐Ÿ˜

@Yuriel @retrosponge @ldottxt

The true meat for terrible foam bread is the tinned hot-dog sausage.

If you're going to be filthy, you should go all the way. Butter the bread first and cut off the crusts like a dirty little monster.

*evil noises*

@Fuzz_Ra Or toast the bread, or cut up the hot dogs and mix in something... Just... ANYTHING to show you at least tried. ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

@Yuriel The hamburger is the ground beef. See this pasta and sauce that you add hamburger to.

I thought you didn't want to be known as the source of bad food takes. ๐Ÿ˜›

@Yuriel

That's nothing.

Have you seen them use bunless burgers as a generic meat chunk for meals?

@Fuzz_Ra I have and it makes me want to die. ๐Ÿคฎ
@Yuriel but what do you call your bread?

@ImpofthePerverse At most, TWO of these are real... AT MOST. ๐Ÿคจ

Also, we call them "bollos" (BOH-yohs) ๐Ÿคญ Which, the closest would be "bun", I guess.

(We call it "pan de hamburguesa" (hamburger bread) too)
