Immich server 2.6 upgrade ✅

Say NO to G Photos or I Cloud

Immich 2.6 introduces idToken authentication, asset viewer improvements, map side panel, enhanced search results on mobile, better shared link slugs & presets, an improved video player, and a schema-check tool for better management.

@ggrey @homelab The BIGGEST selling point for me for Immich has been that it stores the files in HUMAN READABLE folder structures that actually make sense. I got so tired of management software that files them away in arcane structures that make sense to absolutely no one, so my photos were effectively lost.

@rez

That surprise me a bit. I've never bothered to check folder structure but I read that some were put off by that structure 😳

I've tried ente before and can't remember why I ditched it in favour of immich

@ggrey I think I had to change the settings to allow for it to be readable, but it's there.

I did also try Ente a long time ago, but it had the folder problem, so I decided to ditch it. Granted, that was me. Not sure what it was for you, of course.

@rez can see it now. I think I'll be happy with the default

YYYY/YYYY-MM-DD/filename.Ext

Makes absolute sense to me.

In my previous life I used to just dump batch of photos from time to time in a folder for the year and sub with the date or the dump 😂😂😂

@rez that's how 28k photos are stored on my samba share 🫢
@ggrey Bruh, I feel that one. 20+ years of photos that I "really need to go through", but heaven knows that I am unmotivated to tackle that. It'll take a month...
