@tk I like Debian but if your goal is to ‘escape’ systemd why is Debian on the list?
@benjamineskola Whoops.

@tk @benjamineskola

Debian without systemd is Devuan - as far as I know (not tested it myself)

@Photor @tk No, Debian without systemd is Debian. Systemd is the default but as far as I know it’s technically optional.

Devuan is entirely different: a Debian derivative. (With bad/naive political/ethical opinions, IMO.)

@benjamineskola @Photor Yeah, it does seem like some folks are swapping in other init systems on Debian based on what I looked up.

@benjamineskola @tk

Oh. Is it?

Sorry. My infos is outdated then. Last time I was looking for this is about 2 or 3 years old, when I was looking for Linux for old MacBook Pro (2011).

Tried OpenBSD, FreeBSD and ended with Fedora now (all working in general).

@Photor @tk No, this was always true. Systemd has never been mandatory on Debian.

@benjamineskola @tk

Ok. Sorry. I was not aware of what is going on there. I read something about Devuan the last days.

Outcome: no more mention of it from my side any more. Looks broken.
