Yesterday Kindle Direct Publishing terminated my account for my comic books after 8 years for no reason. So I would like to know, how are you reading non-manga indie comics these days?
Alternate ebook service? Downloads?
Also is CBZ format still something people like?

#comics #webcomics #books

@tmray If there is a better format than CBZ then I don't know of it.

@sandcat I know I like it 😁

Are there any good new reader software apps for it these days you would suggest?

@tmray for e-ink devices, there is https://koreader.rocks/ - and otherwise it depends on your OS. Linux with KDE has Okular which works okay enough.
KOReader

@sandcat good to know. I used to use Comix as my reader on KDE but that's no longer around. But I do see now that okular has a comic book add on available for reading them too.

@tmray

I'm so sorry they did that to you.

Not the first time I heard of such terminations, I'm sure it's an AI making that decision and nobody is willing to actually check.

I haven't worked with any alternatives myself, but I do publish books to many stores. I don't read comics much, alas.

Smashwords would be my suggestion to try first. I also know that Kobo has a subscription service similar to KU.

I use Draft2Digital to distribute to those stores and many more.

I hope that helps.

@Firlefanz nice! I actually had not heard of any of those . I'll check them out. 😊

@tmray

Best of luck!

Also, feel free to ask if you have more questions.

@tmray That's such a shit thing to happen to a creator!

Personally, direct downloads from the creator (gumroad, ko-fi, itch, etc) in either CBZ or PDF format.
@thegoblinwitch thanks! I appreciate that 😊
