@benroyce @steve @eff this is why They want to jack up HDD prices, use surveillance state age verification measures, and take down the internet archive. They want to erase knowledge and write their own histories, and make it illegal for free thought to exist.

Its been said before, 1984 is their playbook.

This is exactly the reason why guerrilla archivists like archive.today are so important. Despite some of the controversies archiving literally everything without a filter naturally creates, I'd say such actors are a net positive, especially nowadays.

Society has given up more than it realises in moving to a digital world and abandoning paper publications. It will be much easier to literally rewrite history if there's no physical record of it any more.
