I just visited the website of the European Data Protection Supervisor @EDPS and noticed that they have a @Mastodon icon / link in their social media navigation bar in the upper right side of the screen.

This is simply AMAZING!!!

Thank you so much for being here on the #fediverse and for raising awareness about it with your website visitors ❤️

@EUCommission can you please be next? I argued for this in my latest article: https://blog.elenarossini.com/openness-transparency-and-reach-three-reasons-why-public-institutions-should-embrace-the-fediverse/

@hikingdude cool indeed :) Franz I know you're in Bavaria... what is the official website of your region? I want to start contacting public institutions to get them on the fediverse...

@_elena
Puh good question, there are quite some:
Administration / Government in levels of regional granularity:
https://www.bayern.de
https://www.oberbayern.de
https://www.bad-toelz.de

Tourism:
https://tourismus.bayern/
https://erlebe.bayern

All of them have SOME sharing icons - none of them in the fediverse.

Bayerisches Landesportal – Das Landesportal des Freistaats Bayern und der Bayerischen Staatsregierung

Offizielles Landesportal der Bayerischen Staatsregierung: Aktuelle Meldungen, Infos zum Freistaat Bayern, Politikthemen.

@hikingdude you weren't joking about the Big Tech links, wow. Which is too bad because bayern.de has the most accessible website I have ever seen with a top navbar showing "easy language" "sign language" and "read out the page". Like they're making incredible efforts at accessibility but are still stuck on Big Tech platforms, sigh. I will definitely reach out to them

@_elena yes indeed. Fediverse/Mastodon still has not too much PR - (and/or is often explained too technical in my point of view).

But would be awesome if you reach out to them. We all should do that more often ...
