Happy "swap the winter cycling kit for the summer cycling kit" day to all who celebrate #cycling #BikeTooter
@wav3ydave I will hold you responsible if the weather is shit and temp back to single digit next week
@jfparis I have hedged my bits a *bit*
@wav3ydave @jfparis I'm going to swap out the studded tires this weekend. It feels like tempting fate, with the winter we've had. But I'm really looking forward to my stodgy commuter bike moving more like a road bike than a lawnmower.
@wav3ydave not at 6am it wasn't! Frost on the ground in Nodnol
@wav3ydave Here we are continuing to celebrate "Keep riding on the trainer in the basement until the temperature rises enough to melt the ice and snow covering all the roads" season. Also known as "Chasing the Furnace, Month 5".
@wav3ydave
I'm not quite there as this is what it looked like at my house Tuesday afternoon:
@MartyCormack yeah maybe hold off a bit πŸ˜‚

@wav3ydave @MartyCormack Is this when I should mention it's forecasted to reach over 80 Β°F / 27 Β°C in my neck of the woods (Colorado) for Saturday's planned ride? πŸ₯΅

[For those not familiar, it is not uncommon to be hit with a 3 foot / 1 meter snowfall in the Denver Metro area in March … see 2024, 2021, and 2003]

Bonkers weather. πŸ€ͺ

@DavidNapoli @MartyCormack in march? that's mad. it's an odd time of year here too. this week it's mid-teens and sunny and all my facebook memories are of six inches of snow :-)
@wav3ydave @DavidNapoli
In 2013 here in #RochMN we got 13 inches of snow on MAY 2! People had already mowed their lawn by then. It was the latest snow day while I was working for the schools.
@MartyCormack @wav3ydave May 22, 2022 … several inches, so not a huge storm, but certainly put a wrinkle into riding outside for a day or two (at least for me, given I do not own a fat bike 😁)
@wav3ydave I have even put spf50 on today for the first time this year. Probably should have done yesterday tbf.
I saw temps are dropping to ~10c next week so not putting all my cold stuff away.
@Blackhound @wav3ydave it was 7-13C for this morning's commute-substitute and I was glad of the fleece bib tights. I was just thinking how it took until late May last year for it to warm up enough that I could wear summer kit in the mornings. Frustrating!
@FourT4 @Blackhound there are still some emergency cold bits in the mix for the inevitable drop back to sub-zero :-)
@wav3ydave @Blackhound the 3 days of the year I take a gilet πŸ˜ƒ
@wav3ydave As Kryten didn't quite say in Red Dwarf, "Are you sure, sir? It does mean changing your shoes".

@DurableAce @wav3ydave

I have not yet as I get cold feet really easily, but coming home this afternoon they were rather toasty. I usually swap when I'm guaranteed to be able to wear shorts commuting home, as winter boots and shorts looks well odd
