Underappreciated story: Trump and Bondi have decided to disregard the constitutional requirement that US Attorneys require Senate confirmation. In state after state they install unqualified apparatchiks, and it's up to the courts to discover that these stooges are serving illegally.

Which the courts have done, again and again. But the Trump regime simply ignores the courts and the law. All the work of these US Attorneys' offices is at risk. (1/2)

Here's a judge actually throwing one of these Trump prosecutors out of his courtroom: “You have lost the confidence and the trust of this court. You have lost the confidence and the trust of the New Jersey legal community, and you are losing the trust and confidence of the public.”

Any attorney who goes along with this should be disbarred.

@gleick Yay! Now disbar them for life and put them in jail. :)

@gleick

Judge is a Biden appointee.

Thank you, President Biden!

@gleick

A very good path to annihilate justice : without attorney, no prosecution.

@tanavit
And any conviction with an incorrectly appointed prosecutor will promptly be appealed...

@gleick

@gleick Is Trump actually immune from ALL foul deeds?
@gleick Immune from sanction that is
@gleick My usual complaint: the US seems to not have (or use) criminal law for anything except bar-fights.
See 18 U.S.C. § 912
@gleick Underappreciated fact: the Trump administration has decided to disregard the United States Constitution. Full stop.

@gleick

I’d like to suggest that the courts start incarcerating them for contempt.

The people serving who have not been properly appointed have no legal standing. I’d like to suggest if they show up in court suggesting otherwise that they are in contempt.
