Hey linux users upset that systemd is letting in generative-AI code.

  • The linux kernel is planning on doing it too.
  • Do your homework about Devuan. I've heard some discussions in the past about their being a kind of fascist/nazi bent to some of their developers. BUT im not directly familiar with it. I hope im wrong.
  • If you need a systemd optional debian derivative, consider MX linux.
  • (From soneone who migrated to FreeBSD recently.)

    EDIT:

    • It deserves mentioning that ElementaryOS and Gentoo are both explicitly anti-LLM code generation at this point, for their project code. Gentoo can be run sans systemd.
    • FreeBSD's draft policy last year, was against LLM code contributions.
    • NetBSD's published policy is explicitly against LLM code contributions.

    #linux #floss #devuan #systemd

@trashheap Red Hat actually rewards devs for AI use.
@clf YEAH and Fedora was an early adopter in welcoming LLM code contributions.
@trashheap seeing Lunduke calling Devuan "non-woke" is enough of a signal to send me in the opposite direction

@wizbean YEAH. The only real reasons Im couching that one is that ive got nothing in my mental rolodex to point to/link to, when the inevitable reply-guy comes along asking for proof their skeezy; and I don't got the energy today.

THEY made it onto my personal list of FLOSS to avoid a while ago.

@trashheap Gentoo and *BSD are exelent choices, those interested on arch linux can also use artix to avoid systemd.
