@nixCraft yeah, that makes sense. They can shift liability from the apps to the devices that access them. They are a software company that dabbles in hardware, if successful they save on development and (more importantly) legal fees every year on most of thier product line. $2B sounds like a lot but class action lawsuits for child exploitation can get expensive quick. This way the phone has the legal responsibility to protect you.
