In which nothing happens for years, then everything happens in weeks.
Construction on Canberra's Light Rail Stage 2A is powering ahead, with three new stops taking shape at Edinburgh Avenue, City South and Commonwealth Park.
This could be an amazing re-shaping of the city, with the core shifting to city west/south where the light rail stops are. It will be the end of sad, tired old Civic and Garema Place.
Crowds are going to pour into Commonwealth park and west basin from the suburbs, too.

@Rowena Nice. For those (like me) who were not familiar, this is the three stations at the bottom of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_rail_in_Canberra#/media/File:R1_Canberra_light_rail_diagram.png and is scheduled to open in 2028 (at least, that was the date I could quickly find).

The picture shows a tram departing north from the current terminus at Alinga street. The extension south under construction will be wire free and batteries have been fitted to the fleet.
According to https://www.act.gov.au/lightrailtowoden/stage-2a, the project plans include planting 'several new trees'!
The existing light rail has been amazingly transformative. Since it opened in 2019 trams have run every 5-15 mins. People love it. Incredibly, it has not been enshittified, i.e., privatized, segmented, degraded service frequency.
