To wrap up my #rant, yes I'm annoyed that Ballard was cut, but I'm more annoyed at the seeming incompetence of the leadership to not see these obvious issues 10 years ago, and worse that it just gives ammunition to those who want it all completely cancelled who are happy sitting in traffic for hours. Seriously 40 years, that's older than quite a few construction companies themselves. That's enough time to hire talent, build up the necessary people and skills, and then know that they are retained experts who know how to build rail. The project is long enough where their children also could have grown up and worked on it. All without taking a massive cut to go to private companies. #seattle #transit #lightrail #thread

I can't help but think about how much this would have cost if they had started it a decade ago. I know, there were reasons, but also I'm annoyed so I'm in "what-if" mode. Then, the costs themselves. 10 years of constant cost growth in construction is a lot, but was the money not held in a trust which grows with inflation? This seems like it was the most obvious avoidable item. Then also, someone call me out, but if we're extending AGAIN on these projects, won't this just happen again if it is not in some interest-bearing account?
