Iraqi parliament speaker condemns attack on Erbil airport

ERBIL – Iraqi parliament speaker Mohamed Halbousi on Wednesday condemned the attack on Erbil International Airport, calling it a "cowardly act of aggression" and a threat to Iraq’s security.

"This heinous attack is a clear message of terrorism and a blatant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty," Halbousi said in a statement. "It poses a threat to the security of Iraq and the region."

He called on the Iraqi security forces to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.

"The Iraqi parliament expresses its solidarity with the Kurdistan Regional Government and the people of the region," Halbousi added.

The attack on Erbil International Airport took place on Wednesday morning and resulted in several casualties. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
