@DJDarren Lucien is one of the unsung heroes of the Native Tongues, by the way. He was there couchsurfing in the studio while all those classic early Tribe, Jungle Brothers, De La Soul albums were recorded, regularly contributing ad libs and even an occasional verse, contributed production to The Beatnuts’ debut - and later, having returned to France, produced some of Suprême NTM’s best tracks. #hiphop

Just to be entirely predictable, for instance: How about Neneh Cherry (who is Swedish but also rather multi-national), and her London cries of 'what is he liiike? YanawatImean?'

Levellers - 100 Years Of Solitude (my original accent before life happened)
Foy Vance - Closed Hand, Full Of Friends (Northern Irish: Foy's from the Other Bangor)
Duke Special - Freewheel (Northern Irish: from Lisburn! and I think these lyrics ONLY rhyme in this accent)

No k-pop this week because it would be too easy. Papa Steph sent me a list of about twenty songs, as is his wont, so from that I have selected one. Don't feel as if you must include him every week, you can count us as one person if you like. We're very similar, except he's a bit taller and quite a lot older and has far worse tattoos. ANYWAY:

Lord Kitchener - London is the Place for Me
(because it is very much a song of immigration - Kitch performed it aboard the Windrush at Tilbury dock, there's a video of it on youtube - and because accent is important in the story of Caribbean migration to Britain)

Charlotte Agigéry & Bolis Pupul - Blenda
(a song which discusses accents, again in the context of migration)

And three songs in which, rather more straightforwardly, English regional accents are very much to the fore and I find it difficult to imagine these songs performed by people without strong accents:

Dr Mrs Caitlin Swisslet is right in with Where Do You Go To My Lovely by Peter Sarstedt. It’s very Gallic and all that, but his Scandinavian accent keeps leeking out. Legsh.

360 - Boys Like You (feat. Gossling). Besides 360's very Aussie hip hop style you have Gossling's unique voice, shortened words but such a unique (accented?) vocal style.

Emma Louise - Jungle. Again, the shortened Australian style wording "dreamin', dreamin'", "speakin'", "feelin'". The upward tone inflection at the end of every line which Aussies have. She's got a beautiful voice, and I had a ball dancing on top of a picnic table at a rave to a dance remix of this.

It’s in French, sung by a French-Canadian with her Quebecois accent. The track played a lot on English-speaking Canadian radio stations back in the late 80s.

A French friend hates the Quebecois accent and I think he’s a snob.

(I loved their inclusion in Brother Bear - I wouldn't normally use a lazy overused Canadianism, but I think in their case it's almost mandatory)
