What have we become as a country?

@georgetakei

okay, what the actual heck.

@georgetakei the cruelty is just endless.

@georgetakei

The USA is now a 3rd world shithole

@georgetakei US has become the unreliable backstabbing abusive “partner”
@georgetakei soon an angry orange tweet about not getting collaborators abroad
@georgetakei As an indigenous woman of the Tswec, I'm terrified of the US. I will probably never travel there again.
An unbearable reign by a childish king, yes you have become a throwback to medieval!
@georgetakei I grew up thinking we (the west) were the good guys. Many sad years later; truth after truth has disabused me of that belief.

@Rick_d_card
in a way the "we are the good ones" thinking is the gate to what is now unfolding. i'm not accusing. it's a common group thinking. we should just all become more aware of this, so it can't be misused in "us versus them" schemes so easily.

i'm sure currently millions of US citizens don't feel like a part of that "we". this "we" has always been an illusion and much too simple, but very powerful.

@georgetakei

Become? That’s the country. The veneer is merely been removed.

@davidhmccoy @georgetakei you are talking to a guy who spent WWII in an internment camp, pretty sure he's aware that US racism is not a recent development

@chaucerburnt @georgetakei

You’re race-splaining to a Black man in his 50s, something you wouldn’t have the guts to do to my face.

Fuck you.

@georgetakei dunno… a country built on slavery and racism has always been bad.
@georgetakei Utterly untrustworthy. Does that answer your question?
@georgetakei We became Trumpfuckastan.
@georgetakei The mirror that a significant proportion - maybe a majority - of the country looks into every morning?
@georgetakei folks, before replying to this with some kind of "actually the USA has always been racist" gotcha, please consider whether the guy who spent years of his childhood in an internment camp for the colour of his skin actually needs the history lesson.
@georgetakei nothing has changed. It’s all just done openly now, because it’s become abundantly clear to everyone that committing these kinds of crimes covertly is completely unnecessary to avoid persecution.

@georgetakei

The message is clear: never help America. Canada did after 9/11, now we get "51st state" threats.

@georgetakei

¿Become?

USA has been that country even before of WWII.

Other issue is americans prefer to look the other way 😒
