Successful Mutual Aid Search – Nelson Island,
Members of Sunshine Coast SAR responded to a mutual aid request on Nelson Island, working with teams from Powell River SAR and Comox Valley SAR on a task for a person living with dementia who had spent the night outside.

The SCSAR K9 team located the subject pinned beneath several logs in a remote, steep area. The extraction was challenging due to the terrain, but through coordinated efforts, searchers were able to safely free and evacuate the subject. Members from Sunshine Coast RCMP were also on scene and assisted with the search and extraction, and later transported the SCSAR team back to Earls Cove. The patient was transported to hospital in Powell River by RCMP helicopter.
