seriously, WERO?

I cannot set up a QR code and ppl can scan it and pay me whatever they want?

I do have to create a payment request with a fix amount for each transaction, and they then need to scan my dynamic QR for that single transaction?

when is this feature planned? I'd really like to transition asap!

and I can imagine way more scenarios.

@mazzoo why do companies in Europe setting up a new service don’t learn from other countries, that have already a perfect system?

Scan in Thailand works like a charm. Businesses have a laminated QR code and customers just scan it, set the amount of money, send it and show the transaction to the cashier. Done. It’s so easy.

@marc @mazzoo This is already a thing. If you don't have this option you should reach out to your bank for not implementing it.

Although to be fair it was probably a bad idea to let every bank implement all of the features all over again instead of just having a unified app. But I assume the banks didn't want to lose their autonomy or whatever

@mart_w @mazzoo oh, I didn’t know that. I just checked the app of my bank again and even the feature to generate a one time payment QR code is missing. I only can request payment from a contact and send payments to a contact… it’s so embarrassing. But thanks to let me know, it’s at least supported by the standard.

@marc @mart_w

OK, I tested a bit. there IS QR codes for WERO in the form of https://share.weropay.eu/p/1/c/987ABCblabla

and they are not bound to a fixed amount, can be used multiple times, and do not seem to time out.

YAY.

yay, no more need for paypal. only downside is when using the WERO App you can only scan QR codes with the camera. no scanning from files, no entering of the URL. beyond my understanding.

@mazzoo @marc Which, to be fair, I'd argue are edge cases, and it makes sense that things like that aren't a priority for the app. Heck, I couldn't even name you another app which lets you do it natively.

You can work around it, though, by scanning the file with a separate app or entering the link directly in your browser. The website behind it can redirect you into your banking app and start the Wero flow.

@mart_w @marc all apps I know that scan QR codes also allow scanning images (android). I believe they explicitly took the feature out.

but your proposed flow seems to work too. but it's awkward. QR scanner, open in browser, choose bank, opens WERO app...

@mazzoo @marc Do you really think they actively took it out? To me, without being an Android app developer, it feels like it depends on whether the QR code scanner is integrated into the app's UI, in which case scanning of stored QR codes would need extra development, or whether it redirects you to your phone's default QR scanner app, which may very well have this feature.
@mazzoo @marc I just tried two banking apps, by the way. One allows you to take the QR code from the camera roll (which surprised me) and the other one doesn't. So once again it's a thing where every bank implementing Wero themselves introduces inconsistencies 🥲
