Somehow, the audio at the Oscars was *worse* this year. The background fan-like drone was joined by really weird-sounding audio from the sepakers’ mics, like the gain was too high or something. Yeesh.

@siracusa During MBJ’s speech there was very clearly someone breathing into a hot mic. Top to bottom pretty bad.

@siracusa yeah it was really bad. Plus the audience seemed super muffled too. Several of the presenters weren’t miced correctly either.

@siracusa I was complaining about it the entire time. Half the time it sounded like someone was speaking into a can. I don’t know how such a major event by a major network could have this poor of audio. Bizarre.

@siracusa we only watched the monologue but I was stunned at how bad Conan sounded. This seems like something that should be easy to get right in 2026.

@siracusa The *announcer* was hard to hear. It’s the one person whose audio should be fed directly into the telecast, but it was only heard over the room mics. WTF, ABC?

@mescutia @siracusa That's the last year that ABC is broadcasting it. Next year it's on YouTube of all places. The network was probably checked out and not doing the diligent work to make the production rock solid. I'm curious how it's going to sound next year.
