🎡 And the snow came back
The very next day
The snow came back
You're feeling like a goner
'Cuz the snow came back again! 🎡

@ottaross The hyacinths in my garden are in flower!

@LillyHerself nice! Flowers some day would be great to see. I'm really looking forward to the tulips and crocus this year.

First spring in this house I was shocked to find we had none at all. We planted lots last fall. Hope some survive the squirrels which are voracious here.

@ottaross @LillyHerself
I planted tulip bulbs a couple of falls ago and afterwards, sitting in my living room feeling proud of my effort, I looked up to see a squirrel on the fence happily munching on one of them.
@LillyHerself @jd @ottaross Darn! That’s heart breaking. On the other hand, in our old house, squirrels buried different coloured bulbs from the neighbourhood in our flower beds. Strange surprises every spring. πŸŒ·πŸ’
@skatem @LillyHerself @ottaross
You have them well trained!
@jd @LillyHerself as @ottaross says, we’re going to really have to up our squirrel thwarting game here!
@skatem @LillyHerself @ottaross
The Thwarting Squirrels. Might have to form a band just to be able to use the phrase!

@jd Try saying 'thwarting squirrels' quickly, ten times in a row πŸ˜‚

@skatem @ottaross

@jd @LillyHerself Ugh, heartbreaking. We thought our anti-squirrel warfare game was pretty good at our last place – use of bloodmeal was good at protecting tulips against the vegetarian critters – but I suspect we'll need another level of defence here.
@ottaross @jd @LillyHerself I've been using bloodmeal a long time since we now have a clump of tulips in the middle of the front lawn I never planted. I've seen a few suspicious holes lately so maybe will have to up my game as well. :(
@Dianora the "South of Baseline" squirrels are voracious.
@jd @LillyHerself
@ottaross Perhaps put your bulbs in planters? Or put out lots of peanuts for the squirrels so they have something else to munch on?
We have no small wild mammals around here - between the farmers, the giant herring gulls and the huge population of domestic cats who are let out loose to do their 'business', a poor little squirrel or a mouse doesn't stand a chance.
I miss Edinburgh - foxes, mice, herons, otters - an amazing array of wildlife for a capital city!

@LillyHerself Probably easier to manage in planters, but really I love the eruption of colour around the yard, and the serendipity of unexpected tulips where the squirrels have moved them for 'future lunches.' 🀣

Do you imagine an 'escape from the north' at some point to more pleasant environs?

@ottaross My health is pretty poor at the moment, but I would very much like to move somewhere else. Here's my first ones up!
@LillyHerself a nice splash of colour. Sorry to hear you're not firing on all cylinders lately. Hope there's a brighter summer ahead.
