The Trump bloodhounds have just won in court against an “Antifa cell” belonging to the "Antifa domestic terrorist organization.” Here are some useful antifa facts:

1. There is no antifa organization. You can't find it, join it, give it money, or identify any leaders.
2. There are likewise no antifa cells, outside of Pam Bondi’s fever dreams.
3. Even so, if you yourself are not antifascist, what's the matter with you?

@gleick This is why I implore to stop using the word “antifa".

I get its intended meaning and value, but it is a casualty of war. It has been misappropriated by the regime. People who don't know what "antifa" is will believe it is a terrorist organization and won't care to learn otherwise.

However, the whole phrase "anti-fascist" cannot be misunderstood. Even misguided people who are all for the “antifa crackdown" will not support an "anti-fascist crackdown” or believe there is an "anti-fascist terrorist organization.”

Expand the term. Use "anti-fasicst" everywhere. Stop using "antifa” (at least until it can be reappropriated).

@LanceJZ Only if we switch to a vaguer word. It shouldn't be necessary to explain that antifa means anti-fascist, but they don't gain any ground if we make them say “anti-fascist” instead.
