@thomasweibel @spatialists @OpendataCH @geomob @clolsonus @JensWiesehahn @paulfoerster Well, it seems more accurate than my watch which, despite having *3* GPS bands and a barometer, has me at 6m *below* sea level. 😅

@mez @thomasweibel @spatialists @OpendataCH @geomob @clolsonus @JensWiesehahn Using the barometer to measure elevation is extremely inaccurate. Since mostly accurate data from all over the world is available, I wonder why big tech hasn’t implemented that (yet). They have those data.
@mez @thomasweibel Fun fact: Approximately one third of the Netherlands is below sea level.

@thomasweibel
Cool, great!

At least on Firefox, the UI is resizing during the measurement.

@hiker @JensWiesehahn @geomob @spatialists @OpendataCH @paulfoerster @thomasweibel Seeing the same -Err here (usa) ... location reported as 0, 0 in the lower left of the window. As far as I can tell I've enable location (but ....???) I'm running the vivaldi browser. I'm guessing it's probably some sort of browser permissions on my side, but I don't know what to look for. Is there any deeper debugging I can do on my side? (Also, my computer is located in an upstairs room of my house if that makes a difference for your algorithm) :-)
@thomasweibel @hiker @JensWiesehahn @geomob @spatialists @OpendataCH @paulfoerster I think I am, but it's possible there is a setting somewhere I'm not aware of. (vivaldi browser)
See attached screenshot claiming your website is accessing my location ...
@DO3EET Did you allow geolocation?
@thomasweibel yes I did... both on my ArchLinux Firefox and my Android Chrome. Both with this Error

@DO3EET @thomasweibel
It only works on devices with enabled GPS. So Arch on a laptop is expected not to work.

Firefox on GrapheneOS/Android works.

@DO3EET @thomasweibel
Chromium (and Vanadium) on the same device does not work the first time, even though I allowed geolocation both for the web site (see screenshot) and the browser (right after this).

Pressing the "refresh" button on the Altimeter did not fix this, but after a page reload, the refrsh button did its magic.

@marcel @thomasweibel because of Ham operations I have this on my notebook https://amoz.onl/4r2

@DO3EET @thomasweibel
And the browser recognizes it?
@marcel @thomasweibel other websites can get my location very on-point
