๐ŸŒฟNature finds a way inside this abandoned 1950s glass factory. Once a prestigious multinational HQ, the site now sits derelict and left to the elements. Inside the Modernist concrete shell are several massive internal atriums. Now, miniature worlds of greenery. A happy byproduct of decades of unchecked growth that is slowly engulfing this lost place.

@ObsidianUrbex
Very nice, especially the first photo has a very sifi post appo vibe.

I saved it in case I'm ever around but realistically I'm too scared to do Urbex.

Huh, I've been there once, before it was abandoned, an on-site support visit for my previous employers. No idea when exactly, but it would have been in the decade before the company was bought out.
@sarble
Bet it was interesting to compare what it looked like in your memories, to it's state now โ˜บ๏ธ
Yeah, my strongest memories are general ones of lots of glass, and looking out over the pond
It's amazing how quickly nature gets a foothold...
@ObsidianUrbex
Reminds me of documentaries like "The World Without Humans", and "How Long Would It Take To Nature Take Over Our Built Structures".

Do you know, when and why it was abandoned?

@fasnix
This one, the factory closed down so the canteen and other buildings were also closed

Terrarium Industrialis, England

The Terrarium Industrialis lies hidden inside an abandoned building, glass-encased verdant gems against a 1950s Modernist concrete shell.

@ObsidianUrbex Reminds me of Stray!
@Xenophon
Still need to play that โ˜บ๏ธ
@ObsidianUrbex very very beautiful ๐Ÿ’š
In the end... Nature conquers.
@ObsidianUrbex what a shame that space wasn't re-purposed into housing or something ๐Ÿ˜•
@akamran @ObsidianUrbex
There's a growing consensus that Space should be repurposed as housing - for billionaires. Send them all up there ASAP! ๐Ÿ˜„
@akamran
I wouldn't be surprised if one day it gets renovated, but definitely no plans as yet ๐Ÿ˜ถ
@ObsidianUrbex presuming this is Pilks
@ObsidianUrbex I love modernist architecture reclaimed by nature. The contrast between the bold concrete and the freely sprouted plants is incredible. It's suggesting that from our idea of ordered spaces can rebirth the chaotic idea of nature, about filling every corner of the planet.
In non-abandoned modern spaces I love the idea of luxorious inner gardens.
I'd love a house with a winter garden - and a gardener to keep it.
@luc0x61
It must have been interesting when the place was in use, these inner gardens must have been both beautiful and a little strange.
@ObsidianUrbex Not really strange, I've seen many inner gardens.
Even in a humble offices complex where I worked in the 90s we had a (supposed) inner garden on the first floor, where some offices had a window to. I write "supposed" as it was nearly abandoned like the places you visit ๐Ÿ˜…
@ObsidianUrbex All four photos are great, but that last one is just spectacular!
@KatS
Thanks so much! It was a nice little sunset adventure, I was lucky with the light โ˜บ๏ธ
