This morning was my first experience of teaching a #HamRadio study course to prepare prospective hams to take the Technician test. Unlike @kb6nu, we don't fit it into one day; we are doing three successive Saturdays, with testing the following weekend, which is being held at RARSfest.
My part today was to teach electronics, all the way from "What even is electricity?" through all the electrical components on the test, and all the concepts from units of measurement and things measured from Electromotive Force (E) measured in Volts (V), through Ohm's law and the power law, all the way through impedance. (As it happened, I had an electrician and an ex avionics technician among the students to keep me on my toes!)
I ran a little long, despite multiple prior run-throughs. It's a lot of material. And I was trying to teach for basic comprehension and retention, not just passing the test.
At the end of the class, we pointed the students at Open Ham Prep so that as they have questions, they can post them on the forum connected to the questions, and when they do that, we'll get email notifications s so we can help them understand in real time.
