#SFC is on it & we'll have a more comprehensive statement & plan about #California AB 1403 in about a month. These sorts of nuanced policy responses and tactics should never be rushed.
I spoke to multiple legislative aides & a parliamentarian from the Colorado legislature last week. #Colorado bill is unlikely to make it through CO's House of Reps before this session ends, but I'm on it.

Attached: 1 image Went to the capitol today to meet Sen Ball, Rep Paschal, Rep Ricks, and three additional Denver constituents with concerns about SB26-051's effect on open source software, privacy, and security. It was an hour and a half meeting that could have gone longer if it weren't for the building being shut down. Our concerns were heard and shared. The next step is exchanging and discussing specific language changes to the bill including an exemption for open source software.
I will do so. #SFC is a 501(c)(3) so we do have to file with the IRS before we officially begin lobbying (I'm currently speaking just for myself rn, as always, on Fediverse), but #SoftwareFreedom Conservancy expects to file the appropriate paperwork next week, & then we can begin coordinating on lobbying officially.
You both have a DM for me for further coordination follow up!
