Nice repair, I love my TX7 too!

Regarding sending Sysex files under linux, I use a cheap usb to midi converter with the following command : amidi -p hw:0 -s file.syx

The hw:0 part is the id of the midi adapter, which could be different on your system (use amidi -L to list your midi devices).

The TX7 has no cartridge (like the DX7), right?
About the Obie sounds: I can relate!
I was lucky to get an affordable (second-hand) UB-xa. To me it sounds fantastic, not only considering the price! So if you enjoy the sounds of the micro, go for the big brother!!
A vintage Matrix 1000 could also work for your little studio space. The presets are already tons of fun and editing via sysex seems no problem for you! 💾💪😎

@robleaves Yes, that's right, the TX7 doesnt have a cartridge, other than that it's pretty much identical.
Sweet, you got a UB-xa. It's meant to be pretty close from the demos i've watched on it.
I am after the UB-xa D, the desktop version of what you have.
The Matrix 1000.. Don't give me any more ideas haha i've already got a few things on my list which I would love to have. I fear looking into this in case I have one more thing on the list now 😃

I was thinking of a vintage Matrix 1000 as an alternative to the UB-xa D. Although the UB seems to have the edge in terms of price and polyphony.
